Dedicated to Your Health, Well-being, and Safety
The mission of Health, Well-being & Safety is to raise awareness and empower students to develop lifelong health, well-being, and safety practices. This work begins from the moment you enroll at UCR. Explore this page to learn about our departments and how they'll support your health, well-being, and safety, plus learn more about the health requirements you have to meet at UCR.
Health Coverage Requirements
Health insurance is mandatory for all registered UCR students. All UCR students are automatically enrolled in the UC Student Health Insurance Plan (UCSHIP), one of the most comprehensive and affordable plans available. The cost of UCSHIP coverage is included in your student fees. Students may apply to waive enrollment in UCSHIP if they already have qualifying health insurance. Please contact health@ucr.edu if you have questions about UCSHIP or applying for a waiver. UCSHIP is administered by Student Health Services (SHS). Please visit studenthealth.ucr.edu/insurance to learn more about student insurance requirements and UCSHIP.
Immunization Requirements
The University of California is committed to protecting the health and well-being of our students. As part of our ongoing commitment to campus-wide health and safety, all incoming UC students are required to obtain certain vaccines and complete the Tuberculosis Screening Questionnaire. Please visit the SHS immunization webpage to learn more about these requirements and how to fulfill them.
COVID-19 vaccinations are required for University of California students. Learn more at studenthealth.ucr.edu/covid-19.
